GATE 2022 Aptitude Questions

As the questions are memory-based, for most of the questions, it is not sure to say whether the question is MCQ or NAT. But, the question is correct to the best of our knowledge.

We will be updating this blog with more memory-based questions. Keep coming back for more. The official key will be out soon on the GATE official website.

Question 1

The average of M, N, S is 4000. The average of N, S, P is 5000. If P=6000, M is what % of P?

M+N+S = 4000 x 3 = 12000, N+S+P = 15000

Subtract the above 2 equations, P - M = 3000, M = 6000-3000 = 3000

M is 50% of P

Question 2

A distance of 80km is covered in 6hrs. Some distance is covered with a speed of 10km/hr and some distance is again covered with a speed of 18km/hr. How much % of the distance is covered at 10km/hr speed?

Let d1 and d2 be distances covered at 10 and 18km/hr speeds. Let t1 and t2 be time taken to cover with 10 and 18km/hr speeds.

Then d1+d2 = 80km, t1+t2 = 6hrs. Also, d1 = 10(t1), d2 = 18(t2).

Then 10(t1) + 18(t2) = 80 and t1+t2 = 6.

Solving above equations, we get t1 = 3.5hrs, d1 = 10(3.5) = 35km

% of d1 = 35/80 x 100 = 43.75%

Question 3

In a unit square, a rhombus is formed by joining the midpoints of the square. A circle is inscribed in the rhombus. Find the diameter of the circle in units.

Question 4

Given below are 3 statements and 3 conclusions drawn based on the statements:

Statement 1: All teachers are professors

Statement 2: No professors are males.

Statement 3: Some males are engineers

Conclusion 1: No engineer is a professor

Conclusion 2:Some engineers are professors

Conclusion 3:No male is a teacher

Which statements are true?

Question 5

The areas of the equilateral triangle, square, and circle are the same. What is the ratio of their circumferences?

Question 6

Fill in the blanks:

Writing too many things on the ______ while teaching makes the students ______.

  1. bored/board

  2. board/bored

  3. bored/bored

  4. board/board

Question 7

For the past m days, the average daily production was 100units/day. If today’s production of 180units changes the average daily production to 110units/day then m=?

  1. 7

  2. 10

  3. 5

  4. 18

Given, Sum = 100m = 110(m+1) - 180, 100m = 110m + 110 - 180, 10m = 70, m = 7

Question 8

A person was born on the 5th Monday of February month. Choose the correct option.

  1. 1st Feb is a Sunday

  2. 2nd Feb is a Tuesday

  3. 5th Feb is a Sunday

  4. All Mondays in Feb occurs on an even date

If the 5th Monday occurs in February, then it has 29 days, and the dates of Mondays are 1,8,15,22, and 29. The 2nd Feb will be Tuesday.

Question 9

If p:q = 1:2, q:r = 4:3, r:s = 4:5, and u is 50% more than s. p:u = ?

  1. 2:15

  2. 16:45

  3. 1:5

  4. 4:25

p:q = 1:2 = 2:4 and q:r = 4:3 so p:q:r = 2:4:3

r:s = 4:5 = 12:15 and p:q:r = 2:4:3 = 8:16:12 so p:q:r:s = 8:16:12:15

u:s = 1.5:1 = 3:2, s:u = 2:3 = 30:45 and p:q:r:s = 8:16:12:15 = 16:32:24:30

Then p:q:r:s:u = 16:32:24:30:45

Thus, p:u = 16:45

Question 10

In the below-given figures, the square has a 1cm side length. Calculate the ratio of uncovered areas by circles in both cases.

  1. 3:1

  2. 1:1

  3. 2:1

  4. 2:3

Uncovered area in M = Square area - 4 x Circle area = 12 - 4 x 𝜋 x (¼)2 = 1 - 𝜋/4

Uncovered area in M = Square area - 9 x Circle area = 12 - 9 x 𝜋 x (⅙)2 = 1 - 𝜋/4

Ratio is 1:1

Question 11

If there is a 12-hour clock then how many times does the hour, the minute, and the second hands of the clock will coincide from 3 pm of present-day to 3 am of next day?

  1. 144

  2. 12

  3. 11

  4. 1

In 12 hrs, all 3 hands will coincide 11 times. They will coincide only once between 11 pm and 1 am but in all other hours, they will meet per hour.
